Devotional - Justice

“Lord, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.” (Habakkuk 3:2, NKJV)

The prophet Habakkuk was filing two complaints with God. Part of which was the lack of justice in the world regarding the righteous and the unrighteous; how the former never receives it and the latter never are penalized.

Our days are the same. The bad people prosper; the good guys take it in the back. Observing this with frustration we desire justice.

In reading Romans 3:10 we read that no one is righteous, all fall short. Justice, administered swiftly with permanent repercussions and effect…are we sure that’s what we want? Is that what was meted out to us by God when we were dead in our sins and He sent His Son?

On this day let us be grateful for the birth of Christ because of the grace and the mercy we have by His name; the bridging of the eternal gap between us and our Heavenly Father. Let us pray all the world would come to know Him as their Lord and Savior, too.
