Devotional - Hear My Cry

“Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry out to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (Psalm 61:1-2, NKJV)

The truth is we all feel faint of heart and of spirit; we doubt the effective nature of our good deeds from time to time.

Yet in those moments of self-doubt and uncertainty we have the blessed privilege to call out to our Creator and ask Him for guidance. That requires us to “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NKJV)

The “rock” in Psalm 61 is Christ Jesus. “Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture: ‘Behold, I lay a stone in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.’” (1 Peter 2:6, NKJV)
