New Calendar. Old Cries

“So Samuel said, ‘When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the Lord anoint you king over Israel?” (1 Samuel 15:17, NKJV)

These powerful questions were aimed at King Saul because he saw himself as the focal point and the source of his own blessings...egotistical; a self-made man who sat on the throne of his own life.

In Biblical Christianity the individual realizes that they do not need or want to be a big deal. Rather, they crave and are grateful to have the opportunity to be humble servants of and in the name of He through Whom the universe was created and all fingerprints were given.

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” (Philippians 2:3, NKJV)

A new calendar and a new year bring about cries for old things not yet achieved (i.e., weight loss, reconciled relationships, financial security). What would the world look like if we as individuals personally embraced and reflected Christ’s servant heart each day? Might the world look different because we would be different?
