Wait for it

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalm 27:14)

Waiting conjures up thoughts of watching grass grow, not terribly productive and downright torturous. So why does the psalmist tell us to, “Wait for the Lord’? We can do so with the assurance that waiting, in this case, is the best action we can take.

He is perfectly consistent, He cares for us personally and about what occurs within our lives. More than this, He cares about the condition of our hearts and the deep groaning within them. Yes, more than we ever could, the Lord our God knows our inner most thoughts…good and bad.

Combine this reality with the fact that He not only wants what is best for us but knows what this looks like, yes, more than we ever will. This is why we can and should “be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
